TS Technology Services Provides Vital Support for Cable & Wireless

TS Technology Services, one of the industry’s leading providers of fully integrated supply chain service solutions to the telecommunications sector, reverse-engineered parts for a radio transmitter for its client, Cable & Wireless, to help ensure the continued operation of a critical radio link needed to carry data between major companies, hospitals and catalogue warehouses over the Christmas period.

Cable & Wireless was faced with a long wait for repairs and replacements from an original equipment manufacturer for circuit boards in a microwave transmitter unit in the run up to the high-volume Christmas and New Year retail period, which is also a busy time for hospitals. As the boards were needed to repair a faulty back-up radio link, and to provide continued redundancy in the event of further faults, an immediate solution was needed.

Michael Brook, Supplier & Logistics Delivery Manager of Cable & Wireless, commented: “With limited access to a working reference unit, engineers from TS Technology Services developed a test rig in isolation. This enabled them to visit our site and carry out component level repairs on all of the faulty units in the back-up radio link, as well as repair other units which then provided immediate back-up in case of future problems. I was delighted with their success.”

“Without the skilled support from TS Technology Services, our client was faced with paying engineers to be on standby over the Christmas period,” explained John Phillips, Repair Operations Director for TS Technology Services. “With no back-up units, the critical radio link may have failed and been out of action for an extended period leaving its customers exposed at a very busy time of the year.”
